EPFS on FR2105 series radar

What do the letters EPFS, in red, on the lower right hand corner of my FR2105 radar display mean?

Solution

EPFS stands for Electronic Position Fixing System. This message indicates an error. The EPFS error is generally caused by one of two things:

1. The radar has lost its GPS NMEA input for some reason. Make sure the GPS is turned ON and check the connection between the GPS and the radar.

2. There is no GPS connected to the radar and the user has selected NAV for own ships speed source. To clear the alarm/error message do the following:

     A. Press the [RADAR MENU] button
     B. Press the [0] button
     C. Press the [6] button repeatedly to highlight LOG or MAN
     D. Press the [ENTER] button
     E. Press the [RADAR MENU] button to return to normal display
