Question
Why can't I see the bottom on my fish finder screen while in shallow water (such as in a marina)?
Solution
Low-power digital display depth sounders, such as the RD30 with a smart sensor, are better suited for shallow water navigation. Fish finders are generally not designed for shallow water performance (less than 10 feet). Sometimes reducing the gain will allow you to see the bottom in shallow water.
