Connecting an SC30 to a NavPilot 500

Question

What is best way to feed compass information from an SC30 to a NavPilot 500 autopilot? Would it be to use a standard NMEA2000 converter to NMEA0183 input into the PG500?

Solution

If you have an SC30 you need to convert the NMEA2000 info over to NMEA0183. You would need an NMEA2000 converter. The converter that we offer is the IF-NMEA2K2. You would connect this as a drop off the NMEA2000 backbone where the SC30 is currently connected. You would use pins 1 and 2 of heading port (J8) of FAP5002 (processor unit). Same place where the PG500 is normally connected.
