What cable and software are required to interface the GP31,32,36,37 to a computer for uploading and downloading waypoints and routes?
Solution
There is no prefabricated cable for a computer connection. However, the cable supplied with the GP31 and GP36 has all the necessary wiring. Obtain a serial cable with the appropriate connector for the computer (either a 9 or 25 pin serial type) and make the connections as outlined in the operator's manual or on the wiring display of the unit.
Also correct for models: GP30, GP31, GP32, GP35, GP36 & GP37.
The Windows operating system usually includes Hyper-terminal software which can be used for upload/download purposes. Commercial software is also available and typically more user friendly.
