Question
What is a high-speed fairing block?
Solution
A standard fairing is of a similar shape to its companion transducer. In contrast, a high-speed fairing projects a longer streamlined form. This elongated wedge shape cuts the water cleanly, then allows the two streams to flow along the sides of the fairing toward the tapered end where they smoothly rejoin. This results in excellent echo sounder performance above 15 knots.
