​What does the term "Sector" refer to when talking about sonars?

Solution

​A Sector Scan sonar is a cross between a Searchlight and an Omni sonar.  A Sector Scan sonar has a wider transmit beam (45 degrees) than a Searchlight sonar and thus has a faster sweep speed. Sector Scan sonars can be found within Sonar under the Products tab on the top navigational bar.
