Cutting a fairing block

Question

What do I need to know about cutting a fairing block?

Solution

Fairing blocks come with simple, easy-to-follow instructions.  Cutting a high-speed fairing is a little more difficult because it is much longer.  It takes more effort to hold the fairing against the saw's cutting fence.  After the fairing is cut, it is important to shape it to the hull as precisely as possible with a rasp or power tool.  A tight fit will allow water to flow cleanly over the transducer.
